My Music
This page is about my music, that is music that I have written. But first, two quotations:

1) "Music is enough for a lifetime, but a lifetime is not enough for music." - Sergei Rachmaninov

2) "Never compose anything unless the not composing of it becomes a positive nuisance to you." - Gustav Holst

So whilst Rachmaninov didn't actually say that there was too much music, we have to admit that there is already a lot of the stuff around. Plenty for us to play for our whole lifetime and more. Perhaps Gustav is right then, that we don't need too much more and should only compose it when it's already inside us and just needs to get out. That's how Afternoon, the first movement of Village Suite came into existence for me!

I do enjoy composing and improvisation. Many people fear improvisation, thinking that they will never be able to do it, let alone be any good at it. The thing to remember is this: if you struggle to improvise, don't worry! Just make it up as you go along.

Anyway, below you will find some of my compositions. There are some brief details, and a short snippet of audio to give you a flavour.

Village Suite
A little suite consisting of four movements for string orchestra.

Two unrelated piano solos
Left Field
Planning in 3D

And now for something completely different!
Just one of a series of short pieces, produced on the Roland XP-80 Synthesizer.

Finally, there's a little more about that hammered dulcimer that I mentioned.
