My lessons are structured towards progress and achievement but are also fun and relaxed. I believe that getting on with your teacher, as well as enjoying lessons and making music are essential aims. I will always tailor lessons to suit each pupil, and treat them as an individual.
All ages and abilities are welcome.
All pupils are offered the chance to take exams but there is no pressure to do so. I prepare students and enter them for exams with either the ABRSM or Trinity College London, but I am also happy to work towards RockSchool exams for those more interested in Rock/Pop genres.
I encourage my pupils to learn music theory alongside their practical playing, and also teach theory from scratch to those who have studied little or no theory before. Theory lessons can be done in person or remotely using Zoom, Skype, voice call, or via email.
If you need your Grade 5 theory I can help! You don't need to be having piano lessons with me, and I will teach you all you need to know. No previous theory is required as I will start from whatever level you need.
More about my theory lessons.
Some pupils use the skills learnt in their lessons towards Duke of Edinburgh Awards and GCSE music performances, which I am happy to support them with. Some of my pupils have expressed interest in learning particular pieces, recording their playing, or preparing for performances. I am always happy to help pupils to reach their goals.
