Music Theory
Manuscript pad and pencil
Music theory is important and can also be fun and rewarding!

Learning music theory helps you with your learning of your instrument, so I teach theory alongside my instrumental lessons for all that want to learn. I have also taught many who have come to me purely to catch up with theory even though they don't learn their instrument with me. In some cases, they have had no introduction to theory at all so it has been a case of starting from scratch.

Wherever you are coming from, whatever instrument, and regardless of how much theory you have done in the past, I can help!

Grade 5 theory is a pre-requisite for anyone who wishes to progress beyond Grade 5 with their practical, instrumental exams with ABRSM. Some find themselves realising that they need to catch up in order to get that crucial theory certificate sooner thay they thought. I can get you there!

Whether you want a fast-track course to Grade 5, a gentle progression through the grades, or just some extra guidance with some topics, I can help!

You do not have to have instrumental lessons with me in order to have theory lessons.

You can have theory lessons with me regardless of the instrument that you are studying.

No fixed schedule or commitment to regular lessons. You can take it at your own pace.

Lessons can be done in person, or using Zoom. It's also possible via email if that works for you.

I love theory and I hope my enthusiasm comes through in my adaptive and sympathetic style of teaching it.
